Frankfurt a. M. / Lingen, 15th March 2011 – With "Prestige" Emco Bad at ISH 2011 in Frankfurt presented a new illuminated mirror cabinet series as part of its diverse "Asis" room system. Elegantly designed throughout and featuring numerous innovations to meet the highest comfort requirements, the new product represents a functional and aesthetic highlight, particularly in baths of the higher luxury class, says the manufacturer. The illuminated mirror cabinet is the first in the market to feature steplessly dimmable LED lighting all the way round its edge combined with a novel bathroom pole system and laterally movable glass shelves. At the same time the integrated LED technology provides stylish light effects – such as, for instance, illuminated storage boxes and door handles – and very low energy consumption.
The LED light source is fitted to the front of the high-grade aluminium cabinet body so that, when the doors are open, the entire inside area is optimally lit. Set-back positioning of LED fittings and a cover profile of special PMMA plastic achieve a homogeneous light distribution and thus eliminate the point-light effect typical of LED light sources. When the mirror cabinet is closed, satinised surfaces fitted in the doors just above the light strip ensure a dazzle-free, even illumination of the mirror image. The light intensity can be steplessly regulated by means of a touch sensor. In this way, whether one is engaged in body care or simply relaxing, an ideal light atmosphere can be created in the bath. The power requirement is between only 4 and 60 watts maximum, depending on mirror cabinet size and dimming level. For additional safety and control the lighting system is provided with an automatic switch-off function after 24 hours’ operating time.
A further innovative feature is the bathroom pole system positioned centrally in front of the reflective back wall. It incorporates semi-transparent plastic boxes offering orderly storage space for smaller utensils and cosmetics. The storage surfaces in the individual boxes slope back downwards at an angle of 2°, effectively preventing lipstick and so on from falling out. Furthermore, an additional LED light located behind the bathroom pole system provides especially stylish illumination of both the storage boxes themselves and their contents.
A magnetic rail for scissors and tweezers, flush-integrated plug sockets, an RDS radio with stereo speakers and an aux connection for all commonly available makes of MP3 player complete the wide range of bathroom pole features. It also acts as a support for four crystal glass shelves in two different lengths. Inserted into horizontal grooves, these can be laterally adjusted as required to create sufficient storage space even for tall bath utensils or care products. Plastic linings in the mounting grooves ensure that the shelves slide smoothly while being positioned and are firmly seated.
The new illuminated mirror cabinet models are 650 mm high and are available in three widths – 600, 900 and 1,300 mm – as a build-on version or for pre-wall installation systems. An asymmetrical door arrangement in the 900 mm wide model, which is designed above all for individual washstand spaces, ensures that the mirror image is reflected on a continuously seamless surface. Optimum alignment of the crystal glass double-mirror doors is ensured by quality-made hinges with three-dimensional adjustment. Fast, precise adjustment of the respective door elements is ensured with the aid of cams. The design also enables the mirror cabinet to be completely flush-integrated into all commonly available pre-wall systems. For this the manufacturer also supplies suitable mounting frames, thus essentially helping to facilitate planning for and final installation of the respective models.
