Essen / Lingen, 10th March 2010 – Emco Bad at SHK Essen 2010 has presented a new illuminated mirror range. The series, says the manufacturer, unites aesthetic appeal and functionality thanks to a modern, stylish design and up-to-the-minute light technology. An outstanding feature is the cosmetic mirror integrated flush with the mirror surface and available on the market for the first time. The rectilinear forms featured throughout the series focus the eye on the essential and blend harmoniously with the bathroom architecture. Optical accents and optimum illumination of the mirror image are provided by fitted-on light elements with satinised part-surfaces and positioned horizontally or vertically. The mirrors are also fitted with an additional, separately controlled underlight which enables soft, atmospheric bathroom lighting to be achieved as required. The new range comprises eight different illuminated mirror variants in six different sizes. With this wide range the manufacturer offers both the design-minded and the comfort-oriented user an attractive illuminated mirror alternative to meet individual requirements.
The models with an integrated cosmetic mirror are 600 mm high and are available in two widths – 900 and 1,200 mm. The round, threefold magnifying surface with a diameter of approx. 200 mm blends seamlessly into the total mirror surface to form a continuous and thus extremely easy-to-clean unit. The magnification area is also attractively separated from the rest of the mirror surface by a light element running vertically the full height. At the same time the light projecting 53 mm forwards provides by means of lateral light control optimum lighting for both areas. Because of the symmetrical design of the illuminated mirror the magnification area can be positioned optionally on the right- or left-hand side during installation.
The product range further includes three mirror variants, each with two side-fitted light elements running the entire height of 600 mm. These models are available in the widths 600 mm, 900 mm and 1,200 mm. A further three illuminated mirrors are fitted with a light element positioned about 100 mm below the upper edge and running horizontally the full width of the mirror. Here there is a choice between a 600 mm wide and 900 mm high, a 900 mm wide and 700 mm high and a 1,200 mm wide and likewise 700 mm high variant.
All light elements are fitted with a mirrored anti-glare strip on the front and side profiles made from satinised acrylic, affording glare-free, even illumination of the mirror image. Corresponding brightness is supplied by energy-efficient T5 lights with an output of 14, 21 or 28 watts, depending on their size. The lights can be changed with a few hand movements without having to remove the mirror from the wall to do so.
The light element for the integrated underlight is concealed on the rear side between side-fitted profiled cover pieces of polished high-grade steel. In this way a softly radiant, indirect light source is created which can be used equally as an atmospheric and an orientation light. Separate switching means that the underlight can be controlled both separately from the mirror lighting and independently of the room lighting.
